The services that we offer require the use of specialised equipment, products and lighting, and our results can only be achieved in a controlled studio environment so all work is carried out in our purpose-built workshop.

Not at all. We work on quite a number of motorcycles and any other luxury toys customers may have.

Unfortunately, we don’t do any basic car washes, we specialise in detailing, paint correction and protection packages. We offer maintenance washes that are designed to maintain the corrected and protected finish of a vehicle.

Paint protection film (PPF) is a physical barrier of polyurethane film (not vinyl) that is designed to absorb and disperse the impact from stone chips (think of how a Kevlar vest works at stopping a bullet), scrapes and scratches to protect the paintwork underneath. These films are incredibly strong and virtually invisible on the vehicle and sometimes referred to as “clear car bras”. Most parts of a vehicle can be wrapped in PPF.

Coatings on the other hand are a silica based chemical that bonds to the paintwork to protect against UV, chemical etching and light marring. These coatings increase gloss of the paintwork and due to their strong hydrophobic properties make cleaning a vehicle much easier. It is possible to use a coating on top of PPF to get the best of both worlds.

After a general visual inspection, we use a ‘Paint Thickness Gauge’ that measures the overall thickness of your paint in microns, these gauges can provide valuable information about the history of the paint. We also inspect the paint work with a light to determine how severe the swirls, scratches, holograms, etching, and other surface damage is.

It depends entirely on the condition of the paint. Some minor paint corrections can take 1/2 a day, while some serious corrections for badly weathered and worn paint can take 6-7 days – yes that is up to 50 hours of polishing, refinement and finishing for one car.

If done by a professional that knows about paint types, hardness, depth and uses the best car care products and modern techniques – No. The majority of imperfections are within the first 5-10 microns of paint/clear coat, a modern car should come with 150-220 microns of paint. If the correct techniques are used then the removal of paint is minimal and consistent.

No, The Transformation Garage is a professional detailing service. Our primary objective is to enhance your vehicle. Our compounds and polishes do not contain fillers that get removed with each wash, exposing a base with holograms and swirls.
